Your kitchen cabinets are the life of your kitchen. We understand this at Kitchen Remodelers Temecula. All you may need is for them to be touched up to look as good as new and to ‘breathe new life and personality into your kitchen!’ That’s why we offer Temecula cabinet refacing services.
Cabinet refacing is exactly what it sounds like. It’s the art and science of making your kitchen cabinets look brand new with some innovative touch-up work. And why stop at kitchen cabinets? Our employees will be able to reface any cabinet in your house.
How it works
It all starts with the kitchen cabinets themselves. The cabinet holders and doors are removed from the overall structure. You can rest assured that the actual structure won’t be damaged. Then the cabinet holders (boxes) themselves are covered with a plain wooden veneer. In case you’re wondering, a veneer is a thin strip of wood that’s designed to protect the cabinets from future wear and tear.
Our carpenters nail thin strips of laminated wood to the sides of the cabinets. These are thoroughly secured in place. You don’t have to worry about them falling off, ever! They then nail new hinges to the cabinet structure. If our carpenters feel as though your existing hinges are still good, they’ll keep them. If new hinges are used, they’re made with the latest in technology. This makes them more effective to use. It also makes them safer for you!
The next step is to attach new handles, knobs, and pulls to the cabinet holders. These are stylish and made using state-of-the-art engineering and design principles and technologies. They’ll last for years. This will make your cabinets much safer for you to use. The carpenters can add extra frills like lighting, paint, etc…You must request this or our carpenters must feel as though this is necessary to enhance the look of your cabinets and to extend their utility and life expectancy!
Cabinet refacing generally takes between 4 days to a week to complete successfully. You should be aware that not all cabinets need refacing. In fact, refacing may actually harm some cabinets. Our carpenters will thoroughly evaluate your cabinets to see if they could stand up to the strenuous task of refacing. They’ll tell you if your cabinets are good candidates. Our carpenters will thoroughly explain to you why your cabinets are not good for resurfacing if and when the need arises.
In general, cabinets can be refaced if they have these qualities:
- The cabinet structure and holders are designed and engineered to be sturdy and strong. The cabinet holders are made out of certain types of wood. These are wood species with strong and good grains. Some examples are oak, maple, and plywood.
- The cabinet structure and holders have smooth surfaces. Veneers and resurfacers don’t stick well to rough surfaces. They also tend to slide off of cabinet holders with slick surfaces.
- The structure must be able to hold and support heavier and bigger cabinet holders. After all, the process of cabinet refacing adds a lot of extra weight to the cabinet holders. It also makes them bigger.
- The drawer tracks, inside storage components, etc…) must be sturdy, made out of solid materials, attached well, and be in good condition. They’ll fall apart after you use them once the resurfaced cabinets are inserted into the cabinet structure if this is not the case.
